there's a hole/opening in my gum, on the lower jaw behind the last molar on the right.
i suspect it's a wisdom tooth coming out.

did a little research about it, and it's freaking me out.

firstly, there may be problems such as impacting and infection with the emergence of the tooth.

secondly, if it has to be extracted, the procedures are so dreadful. i have a serious fear for dentists, dental treatments, dental surgeries and anything related.

that's not the end. there are post-extraction problems to deal with as well, the most basic of which is the bleeding which lasts for A FEW days. ensuring that the blood clots and not doing dumb things that dislodge the clot is another thing i'm so worried about.

the thought of all these are just so disgusting. omgosh. eww.

science and technology should develop/improve to make dental treatments/surgeries less intimidating, seriously. i'll be so grateful to the scientists/researchers/whatever-you-call-them.

NYAA Gold RP came to an end on Wed.
well not exactly fully ended yet, but the main chunk is done.

it was great, despite the minor flaws/problems here and there.
but hey, how many things in this world are perfect?

En La Pasión 2009 on Good Friday was fabulous.

My team did great for the competition, imo. We weren't the champions, but we were the People's Favourite. Popular... :D

The Promiscuous Liaisons. Doesn’t our team name sound awesome? hahaha!

Anyway we were interviewed by The Straits Times RazorTV after the competition showcase. Hope I don’t appear stupid.

On top of that, I had friends (friends as in personal friends and not just mere acquaintances) who came to support me! Catherine and Camalyn! Thanks so much for the time and effort (effort to lie to your parents and illegally sneak the underaged Camalyn into Zouk).

was surfing the net earlier on, and i came across this story on motivateus.com. found it quite interesting.

What Really Matters In Life

A vacationing American businessman was standing on the pier of a quaint coastal fishing village in southern Mexico when a small boat with just one young fisherman pulled into the dock. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna.

The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish.

"How long did it take you to catch them?" the American casually asked.

"Oh, a few hours," the Mexican replied.

"Why don't you stay out longer and catch more fish?" the American businessman then asked.

The Mexican warmly replied, "With this I have more than enough to support my family's needs."

The businessman then became serious, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

Responding with a smile, the Mexican fisherman answered, "I sleep late, play with my children, watch ballgames, and take siesta with my wife. Sometimes in the evenings I take a stroll into the village to see my friends, play the guitar, sing a few songs..."

The American businessman impatiently interrupted:

"Look, I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help you to be more profitable. You can start by fishing several hours longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch.

With the extra money, you can buy a bigger boat. With the additional income that larger boat will bring, you can then buy a second boat, a third one, and so on, until you have an entire fleet of fishing boats.

Then, instead of selling your catch to a middleman you'll be able to sell your fish directly to the processor, or even open your own cannery. Eventually, you could control the product, processing and distribution.

You could leave this tiny coastal village and move to Mexico City, or possibly even LA or New York City, where you could even further expand your enterprise."

Having never thought of such things, the Mexican fisherman asked, "But how long will all this take?"

After a rapid mental calculation, the businessman pronounced, "Probably about 15-20 years, maybe less if you work really hard."

"And then what, senor?" asked the fisherman.

"Why, that's the best part!" answered the businessman with a laugh. "When the time is right, you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions."

"Millions? Really? What could I do with it all?" asked the young fisherman in disbelief.

The businessman boasted, "Then you could happily retire with all the money you've made. You could move to a quaint coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, play with your grandchildren, watch ballgames, take siesta with your wife, and stroll to the village in the evenings where you could play the guitar and sing with your friends all you want."

The moral of the story is: Know what really matters in life, and you may find that it is already much closer than you think.

my life's been pretty busy for the past week.

school started (sighs, groans, complains, moans, grumbles etc.), and i'm having really intensive salsa training recently...

had training every day for the past week, and this will continue till the day of the actual Bailamos event. yea it's tiring, but i'm still kinda enjoying it. :D

Jive & Lindy Hop look really fun. considering to take up lessons. hmm...

i'm beginning to believe that there are no happy endings in real life.

updates!

had an exciting ~~expedition~~ holiday in m'sia from 2nd to 5th Jan. technically it was supposed to fulfil our NYAA Gold Adventurous Journey section, but now i'm not too sure. nevertheless, the trip was AWESOME! i'm not really into describing evry itsy bitsy detail rite now, and i'm all too lazy to upload pictures (in fact i don't even have a single 1), BUT i will briefly go thru the major events for the trip.

so we met on the evening of the 2nd, and we took a bus to JB. we transferred to a train tt very nite, and chug'ed the nite away to ipoh (or near thr). couldn't really get to sleep on the train, especially when the train stopped moving. lol!

reached the right train stn on the morning of the 3rd, then we had to take a mini-bus up the mountains/hills to Gopeng Rainforest Resort. quickly dumped our stuff down, packed our daypack, and we were off for some WHITEWATER RAFTING. woohoo! well it was raining the whole day, even b4 we started rafting, so the river was like EXCITING (and thankfully not too dangerous). whitewater rafting was a hell lotta fun, especially for the 1st half of the river course, where the rapids were really big and violent. the raft i was in got stuck at the rapids twice. and it was dam tough to get it back on course. very fun though. the only bad parts were tt i didn't manage to fall into the water (coz i sat too far in on the raft), and the raining weather (which made the river water C-O-L-D... and nearly eveything else cold as well).
lunch was immediately aft rafting, under some shelter. got a lil drier, but still felt v cold. brr... anw the ride on the pick-up to our lunchpoint (and also to many other points thruout the trip) was like some GAME for many of us - avoid the leaves and branches!
after lunch, we went caving. everything was kinda boring till we came to a point where we had to abseil down this rather steep wall. from there, things got more challenging. it became really pitch dark, and we were required to bend low/crawl through certain sections. dark, mosquitoes-filled, and an uneven rocky ground. simply amazing. hahaha!
the evening/night was spent slacking at the resort, playing table-tennis, mahjong, carrom, cards and chess.

The next day, we had some forest trekking to find a rafflesia flower. the trek wasn't too bad, typical actually. muddy, slippery, and a lil rough at some point. but there was 1 very interesting thing abt the trek. evry1 spent 99% of the time looking at their legs; looking out for bloodsucking LEECHES! didn't really manage to spot them initially, coz they were tiny (imo). but aft viviana got bitten, i knew what to look out for. haha! anw despite wearing longs, socks and covered shoes, i still got bitten. those nasty little squishies managed to bite through my socks and drink my precious blood! Peter, junliang, james, and guodong were the worst i must say. blood blood and more blood!
went for some WET fun in the afternn by playing at some waterfall. didn't really spend much time thr, coz we didn't have much to spare. lol.
left the resort in the late aftnn n took the train from ipoh all the way back to s'pore. talked with shawn, peter and ciyi for a long long time on the train. abt scouts stuff.

5th Jan. we reached the train station at harbourfront at ard 8.30am. had breakfast at Mac's, then we walked the nature trails. walk and walk. rested in between. but tt's abt it. no mood to write anymore. hah!

heyhey!

updating this blog to record down what happened in my life. i guess it can be useful sometimes, just like a few weeks back when i was given the task to compile the list of activities and attendance for the Y1 Ventures thruout the whole year. hah! anw this post is gonna kinda brief, with a few pictures sandwiched between lines of text.

13Nov - 24Nov:
School... Studying... Finishing up the syllabus... & a little bit of revision
At the same time... i was busy with NPC (National Patrol Camp) training for the Scouts

19Nov - 22 Nov:
planned to have NPC Mock Camp, but eventually it turned out to be NPC Training Camp. In any case, the 4D3N were used to tie up all the loose ends. Didn't attend the camp thruout thou, coz i still had school during that period of time. But i was present for more than half of the time.

25Nov:
Final checks for NPC, but the attendance was terrible. didn't manage to do much tt day, unfortunately.

26Nov:
Oversaw the moving in of logistics into Sarimbun campsite. Everything went pretty well. We managed to move in all the equipment quickly, despite a huge muddy patch. As compared to the previous NPC, the whole process seemed a lot faster and more organised. hmm... i wonder why.

27Nov-1Dec:
NPC 2008!
bad news came on the night of 28th. the team was running short of lashing! actually, the info came in early evening, but i had salsa training. and aft my trg, i rushed down to VJC for AHS Harmony Concert. hence, it was only during the intermission tt i found out abt the situation. anw at tt moment, shawn and i were so caught up with the anxiety that we acted rashly. we contacted friends and other relevant people to borrow lashings, and the very next day, we cabbed down to Sarimbun. when we got there (with a cab fare of $20++), we had to go thru a lot of trouble b4 we finally managed to fulfil our desired plan.
the following day, 30Nov, the scouts unit + teachers + Shawn & I went down to Sarimbun for the Open House. it was a really spectacular sight, with every unit displaying their skills, creativity and style of pioneering. some of the campsites were really interesting, while others were simple and consisted of the bare minimum. As for the pioneering structures, it was a true eye-opener. this year's theme was "fun", a rather new concept for NPC. hence, we were able to witness the creativity of the different units. i did take a few pictures (of structures i found really interesting/well done).
Catholic High's "Ship". basically it's just like a playground, but without a slide. they even have the tic-tac-toe thing in the "ship"!

Holy Innocent's Pirate Ship. This can be considered my favourite pioneering structure out of the bunch. V good packaging.

Anglican High's Challenge Course. basically it's a one-way travelling from ground level, up to the 1st platform, then to the 2nd, and finally the highest one. from the highest platform, make your way down to the shortest tower, then exit.

can't rmb what sch. =X abseiling wall. interesting...

can't rmb what unit either. but i'm trying to show the slide, which many unit integrated into their structure.

also can't rmb which unit this belongs to. =XX from the picture it might not b v clear, but this is an improvised merry-go-round/circle swing. it's quite fun imo.

had campfire that night,

together with the announcement of the results. we got Silver. kinda expected it. somewhat glad actually. thr's so much that we'll learn out of this. Catholic High bagged the "best patrol award", being top in nearly all sections.

1-4Dec:
End-of-Semester exams. what can i say. i was so busy helping out for NPC till i didn't have much time to study for the exams. results are out alr, & i am so thankful i got the grades i got. did really bad for UGC111, but it was expected. oh whatever. *rolls eyes*

9Dec:
Salsa training. Basically for the rest of the holidays i have like 3 trainings per week. it's for an upcoming performance at some event known as Bailamos. Seems pretty cool, but it's making me feel stressed. i'm such a slow learner!

10-13Dec:
Y Camp Challenge. It was supposed to be till 14Dec, but because of some bedbugs/ticks/mites infestation, the camp had to end early. unfortunately for me, my bunk was the main bunk that was affected. everything was so dramatic. it started out with 1 guy having rash-like marks on his arms, which soon covered his whole body. the next day, when we were going to bed, ppl in my bunk started complaining about being itchy. by then, there were alr a few other cases of ppl having similar rash-like symptoms. so the night was a big disaster. my bunk was moved out and settled in the dining/gathering area. aft some time, ppl slping thr started reporting the symptoms, and so it started a sleeping bag inspection. at the same time every1 was moved out and the dining/gathering area was cleaned. it was only after the inspecting and cleaning that we finally got to rest. was i affected by the infestation. oh definitely. look!

even till today, the bites (or allergy reaction) have not completely subsided. in fact, there seems to be a secondary reaction. the itch and swelling is coming back! oh no! ahh!!!

15Dec:
went to the hospital, but it didn't help. made my way down to clementi for yet another salsa training.

17Dec:
AHS Ventures Handover/Promotion. it was held together with the APL Promotion + Giving out of proficiency badges. my uniform is not so plain now! hahaha! but we still haven't gotten our NYAA badges! dang.
skipped salsa trg because of the terrible itch and redness of the spots all over my arms and legs.

19Dec:
Was part of the First Class SS Test organised mainly for the Sec3 scouts. Took the PT session and the beginning of the Footdrill test.
had to rush off for salsa training halfway.
was super tired at the end of the day. sheesh.

21-23Dec:
went for 2E'05 chalet @ Coasta Sands Downtown East. met Catherine on 21st afternoon, and Huiling joined us. made our way to the chalet tgt. Catherine felt really sick and left late at night. heard that she had food poisoning. goodness gracious.
shot while i was at Mac trying to finish off my NYAA Physical Recreation Report.
anw the chalet was overall BORING. i'm so glad went for my salsa training on the 2nd day, 22Dec. there was supposed to be another salsa training session on the 23rd, but it was cancelled due to the poor expected attendance.

26Dec:
Salsa training. my partner was absent as she was in M'sia. Actually, i don't even know when she'll come back. =X only knew abt it from the seniors.

school's been kinda hectic for the past few weeks. research essay, projects and the weekly tests...

plus the responsibilities from NPC'08 trainings and preparation, it has been really overwhelming.

well i guess things have toned down quite a lot for now. projects are nearing the end. last few tests within this week. and finally voicing out my incapability to cope with NPC trainings.

feeling so much better now, even though end-semester exams are like in 2 weeks or so. LOL.

haven't been updating, and i don't rly wanna fill in the missing posts. =s BUT BUT BUT, there's something that i must say. I TOOK UP SALSA! =DD joined it as a CCA in sch. classes started around 6 weeks ago, n it has been AWESOME. anw it's more of the social dance kind rather than competitive. oh, we even went to a salsa club to witness first-hand how people do the real thing! cool yo! ;D it was darn impressive i tell u. amazing! it's really hard to describe it actually. go see it yourself one day! XD

starting Beginner 2 classes this Thursday. i'm so excited!

it's MY *BURP*DAY today! =D

had a messy & sticky time in school today, getting cream'ed. it happened str8 after esl 408 lesson. i was led to the open area at the side of school, not knowing what exactly was gonna happen. then, during my scrunching up & screaming in fear, vera took out the can of whipped cream and sprayed it on me. and as expected, i retaliated by trying to smear the sweet, sticky white foam on the "attacker". chased vera ard for a short while until all the whipped cream was used up.

washed up before we made our way to ngee ann city seoul garden for lunch. very unfortunately we entered at the wrong time - tgt with a group of tourists. the whole ambience was ruined and taking the food was about waiting n squeezing n waiting n squeezing etc... thankfully it's my day and i did not need to walk ard to take the food; the rest did it instead. =D ate so much, i think i've gained weight. =X

walked ard for a while aft lunch, then finally we made our way home for a lazy nap. or at least i took a nap. x)

time to pump some life into my oh-so-dead blog.

my life is really messed up recently. many things happened, both good and bad.

i shall start with the bad.
school, as in school work, has been inducing stress into my tiny head. somehow i can't really tune myself into "study mode". have been attending all lectures/tutorials/consultation, but thr's a difference between being physically and mentally in class. like how dunno-which-lecturer said, "i don't need you to be physically present in my class. i want you to be more than that; be mentally present." or something along tt line la. basically my point is that my mind has been drifting in and out of the lecture. unexplainably, i've been feeling so lethargic despite the amt of slp being the same as last time. in addition to that, i seem to have lost my drive and motivation to study hard. i just ain't putting as much effort as the previos sem. dam!

and now onto the main part of stress, most probably caused by the above reasons (or whatsoever u call them). i have difficulty trying to understand the facts/concepts/skills taught in class. ESL 408 is definitely rank no. 1 on the list. i can only vaguely understand all the ~~blabbering~~ teaching going on in the room. as for the research, it is pure hell. rejected my topic, n now i hafta come up with a new one. plus the thought of all the citation, summarizing, paraphrasing, quotation ~~n all tt shit~~ is extremely frustrating. UGC 111 follows after ESL 408. all tt ~~bullcrap~~ National Geographics/Discovery stuff on civilisations is overwhelming. so many civilisations, so many names, so many different ideas. ok let's see what random thoughts abt UGC 111 i can generate rite now... Mesopotamia, Egyptian, Indus Valley, Ancient China?, Persia?, rivers, water, irrigation. ahh dang! whr r all the impt info?

shall not go on abt the other modules. sheesh!

on the other hand, my life outside school seems to be :D :D :D :D :D

1st thing would me getting a proper internet. after suffering constant breakages in my internet connection, i have signed up for mobile broadband. this means i can surf the net with my laptop in any corner of S'pore, tt is with the device plugged in of course.

2nd thing would be the "upgrade" to a postpaid mobile line. with this improvement, i would not need to think twice before answering a call (ignoring the fact tt people may be doing stupid stuff such as prank calls, harrassment etc.). having the postpaid mobile plan also means i can call and sms more than before. =D so do not hesitate to call/sms me at my new no.! (ask me for my new no. via email/msn/old hp no. i dun wanna put it here n let the whole world know my no. so dangerous la!)

3rd thing, sth related the the previous :D. guessed it? haha! i got a new handphone! :) and to make it better, i got it for FREE! :D wahaha! well it's a birthday present from Sean, Tommy, Vera & Wei Jie (ranked alphabetically. no favoritism involved.). awesome huh? these cool friends actually paid for my supposedly $98 phone (which in the end cost $48 as part of the student plan package or sth like tt). ohoh! and thanks to Vera once again for earphones. TYVM my friendS! best friends give best friends handphones as their birthday presents. LMAO! XD

4th thing. this was sth tt happened today. Sean paid for a pair of jeans for me. like wth i feel so bleh-dy bad sia. he was acting really strange, tgt with Wei Jie at West Mall Bossini today. cause i finally found a pair of size ** (not telling you my waist measurement! =P) jeans n i got really excited (i was so pissed the last time i went to Giordano and literally fell in love with a pair of jeans i saw, but it doesn't come in size **). oh SEAN, why are you so nicey-NICE to me??? anw THANKS! =)

5th. Wei Jie got me a sock for my phone. fortunately i didn't get him to buy the phone screen protector for me, or else he would have insisted to pay for it as well. and and AND, he actually siad he wanted to get a water bottle for me. oh man. thanks for the thought, i really appreciate it. =) but pls don't splurge anymore on me.

can some1 tell me why on earth are people so nice to me? goodness i can't stand all that warm fuzzy feeling surging in at one go. but nevertheless i appreciate it loads.

now that's about it i guess. it's time for me to go to bed so that i can battle the 0900-1700H timetable tmr.

p.s. i think it is really boring to blog about the daily happenings, esp when my STM hinders my ability to rmb what happened for the day.

after class, we (i.e. sean, tommy, vera, weijie, claire, matilda, matthew and i) went to town to celebrate sean's birthday. we had lunch first, at cineleisure Suki Sushi. ate till i nearly exploded. x.x

went to the arcade after that. matthew left some time in between to return back to sch for class.

after all the balling, driving, hockeying, and shooting, we went upstairs to play pool. learnt the basics from tommy and played a few games. =D i'm not too bad ok. x) laughed alot with matilda and claire. XD and oh ya oh ya! the lady at the counter was such a y>+!q i tell you. terrible attitude. thankfully we got our "revenge" after our game. xP

made our way to some starbucks cafe for cake+birthday song. sean got two cakes - one cold (ice cream cake from swensens), and one hot (hot chocolate cake from starbucks). basically the ice cream cake wasn't really intentional. swensens "forced" weijie to get the cake in order to get a candle. =_= owells.

anyway, there was this group of of people who were waiting along the road for team singapore to drive pass. vera and claire got so excited that they waited for a short while with them. didn't really wait long because we decided to make a move. however, we still got to scream and wave to team singapore. lol. apparently not long after we left, as we were walking towards dhoby ghaut mrt stn, the buses drove past us. well u see, while waiting, vera and claire had gotten loads of team singapore stuff (i.e. balloons, flags, and i-dunno-what-do-u-call-that). so when the buses drove past, they slowed down for us. cool huh. lhaha!

i sense that i'm losing you.

Fri
met weijie, vera, tommy and matilda at east coast in the aftnn for some activities. (i.e. roller blading and cycling) vera and weijie roller bladed, while the remaining 3 of us cycled. tommy and i were reluctant at first, but we gave in to matilda eventually. haha!
after the blading and cycling, it was time to get wet and salty. vera and i got thrown into the sea. wanted to get matilda in as well, but she just kept screaming non-stop. simply amusing. XD
bbq in the evening at vera's place. too much food for too little ppl. enjoyable, nevertheless.

Sat
TKGS campfire at night. the sounds system wasn't too good, plus the mood kept fluctuating. kinda awkward imo. still appreciate the effort though.

& so i questioned myself, "is this who i really am?".

Thurs was the last day of school, which was also the day of econs exam. no comments on the exam. =\ went out to vivocity after the exams. watched Money No Enough 2. just a so-so movie; everything was rather expected.

Fri went back to AHS in the early morn to watch the national day celebrations. went to 18 chefs to have lunch after that. spent the rest of my day at sockling's hse with jieting, calista and germaine. had ventures meeting at nite, at paya lebar mac. saw shengchao thr.

Sat went out to get my laptop. got a fujitsu lifebook s7211. yay! =D

Sun. met up with vera and weijie in the evening. headed down to east coast park to sit down, relax and chitchat. it wasn't anything fanciful nor hyped up, but it was in a very simple way great. =)

nth much happened on Mon i suppose. hmm... can't really rmb.

yest went out to sim lim sq. wanted to get a laptop case, screen protector, laptop skin and cable tie. in the end only managed to get the laptop case and cable tie. i suppose i'll get the remaining 2 some time later. perhaps during the IT fair tt's coming soon.

The House of 1000 Mirrors
Long ago in a small, far away village, there was place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. The Optimist
There is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. "Everything is coming up roses!" he would say. The other twin was a sad and hopeless pessimist. He thought that Murphy, as in Murphy's Law, was an optimist. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the local psychologist.

The Way Things Seem
The story is told of a king in Africa who had a close friend with whom he grew up. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life (positive or negative) and remarking, "This is good!"

One day the king and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for the king. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the king fired it and his thumb was blown off.

Examining the situation, the friend remarked as usual, "This is good!"

To which the king replied, "No, this is not good!" and proceeded to send his friend to jail.

About a year later, the king was hunting in an area that he should have known to stay clear of. Cannibals captured him and took them to their village. "You were right," he said, "it was good that my thumb was blown off." And he proceeded to tell the friend all that had just happened. "And so I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad for me to do this."

yesterday was also the last day of lessons. one semester is gone so quickly just like tt. well, but it still isn't exactly the end of the semester yet. next week is exam week. sheesh! but it ain't too bad for me. out of the 4 modules i'm taking, only 3 have final sems. n out of this 3, only 2 require me to sit in the hall n finish a paper (mus266 is an online test).

today was spent slacking. only did the maths mock paper. ooh! guilty guilty.

hope tmr will be much more productive. meeting vera to study econs!

2. pouring water over vera at the carpark. i was assigned the task, but daren't do it initially. it was done anw. lol. vera totally thought that she was gonna be cream'ed (we scared her last wk by saying we will spray whipped cream on her). what a joke.

not tt my life's boring n such, but thr r many things which simply cannot be revealed. oops! moreover, i tend to forget what happened once i reach home. it's as if the 1hr journey to home organises the whole series of events into the archives. basically it means i need to think hard to recall what actually happened.

anyway, these few days have been somewhat out of the ordinary, mainly on helping peter for his VC hike. i was his reserve companion and supposedly had to help him out for his hike report thru sat nite.

ok let me begin with friday.
i didn't have school tt day, so i decided to accompany clement to HQ. but before that, i had to complete an online music quiz and return the HfH pledge card to children's cancer foundation. loads of rushing and travelling during tt time. bedok - little india - tanah merah - bishan. anw at the scout shop, we had to wait really long for some really annoying, yet hilarious people who were making who-knows-what purchases.

aft we bought the necessary items, we made our way back to ahs to start preparing for the VC hike. well i wasn't really involved; i was just there to receive instructions from peter.

the 1st component of the hike started on Fri evening. it was some 15km hike with some i-don't-know-what instructions. hrd that peter reported 1 hr late n sorta failed tt component.

Sat was the 2nd component, a hike of about 45-50km (if i'm not wrong). peter n clement were going well until some time in the afternoon, when clement sprained his ankle. hence, i was roped in. so this was where the "action" began. i was at my aunt's house when peter called me to inform me of the urgent news. hence i rushed home to get changed. but on my way home, sean called to ask me about music quiz. of all times... but THANKFULLY charmaine was riding a bike on her way home. so i used her bike as a mini table, n she even helped me to hold up my book as i flipped thru the pages of my music textbook. anw back to the point. aft i got changed and made the necessary arrangements, i rushed to meet peter n clement at the junction of upper paya lebar & macpherson rd.

took over clement as peter's companion n picked up his haversack (i was too lazy to pack my own). clement went home after that, while peter n i made our way to the nx checkpoint, some church in bishan. it wasn't too bad until when we were on our way to the following ckpt; a height feature located in Loyang industrial estate. blisters were forming on my feet as we reached tt ckpt. pain... T.T nx up was the bedok lighthouse at east coast park. low spirits, injuries, lack of sleep (for peter), not a single ounce of hope and motivation was left within us. but nevertheless, we still reached tt ckpt, tt of coz was aft a long long long walk (in terms of time). to think tt it was the end, fat hope. thr was still approx 2km to the end point. T.T x100 we literally dragged ourselves down the road. torturous, simply torturous. withstanding all the temptations to give up; restaurants, happy families and partying people. fortunately for us, we were saved from walking an extra distance when one other team saw us and informed us tt the examiners were at mac. u see, we thot that the EP was still quite far away and wanted to carry on walking.

tt moment was just "OH MY GOSH... YES... FINALLY." shawn n guodong arrived shortly after. fortunately/unfortunately, there was a change of plans and i didn't need to go to peter's hse anymore.

Sunday afternoon. went to clement's house to return him his haversack and pass him den equipment. his mum was really nice. :) spent quite some time there before i popped by at peter's place to return him his stuff.

my whole body's aching rite now... ouch ouch ouch! neck - shoulders - back - butt - thighs - calfs - feet. terrible terrible. the worst thing is the blisters on the sole of my feet. =( every step i take is just oh-my-tian...

i'm so not going for another hike anymore.

somehow it just hit me really deeply when i came across it on the net. made me do some serious self-reflection and i understood myself further. i suppose it sounds kinda stupid huh? but it's true.

anyway...
i'm starting to feel a little pressured by school. projects, tests, homework... and End-of-Sem exams. terrible terrible! c

ESL407 - essays and journals are a real torture. i spend like hours trying to come up with a piece of work that is of a certain standard. it's tiring when the essays simply come in one after another. 1 more essay n 1 more journal to go. oh! and there's like this fun activity since the course doesn't have end-of sems. Debate! well at least that's something i enjoy. but wait! it's ain't exactly as easy as it seems. loads of planning and brainwork involved. =\ looks like i forgot to say some things. essay outline due the coming wed, and the nx journal most probably will b written in class. just great. sheesh!

ECO182 - thank god i'm in class B and have mr. ho as lecturer. Seriously i'm like already lagging when he's going so slow. cant imagine how class A copes with the bullet train speed. killer. anw there's a hell load of things that i only vaguely understand, and much of others which i don't know how it can b applied. dam, it sucks.

MTH115 - one and only subject which i do not have to study for. basically it's like AMaths during my sec sch time, so i'm just revising on what i already know. but well, tt's only for now. i don't know what the upcoming chapters are abt. =s hope it's something i already know.

MUS266 - competing with ESL407 to win the title of "worse subj of the Sem". Music, like ookkkaaaayyyyy... it's something so abstract and not concrete. all that fancy talk about tonality, style n stuff like those, i just don't really get it. ok but at least it did help me to better analyse and appreciate music. and well, the people in the class aren't making things any better. *rolls eyes*

Plans for NYAA residential project are finally forming up. hope it doesn't crumble like our previous plan.

Hair for Hope (HfH), held annually since 2003, is an event that invites members of the public to shave bald to support children with cancer

Through this symbolic gesture, we aim to:

Create awareness of childhood cancer in Singapore
Tell children with cancer that they are not alone in their fight against cancer and there is nothing wrong about hair loss or baldness
Build a community of support for children with cancer
Raise funds to help children with cancer and their families

Significance of shaving bald
Treatment of cancer, including chemotherapy, causes hair loss in patients, and is associated with a child’s courageous fight against cancer.

Every shaven head represents an understanding by an individual of the ordeals that a child with cancer goes through.

having a bald head, it was natural draw people's attention. on a personal basis, i felt a little pressure. it was a feeling of uncertainty as to what people are thinking about when they looked at me. you may say "why bother what they think?", but i believe what i felt is exactly what most children who lost their hair due to chemotherapy and other forms of treatment feel. i thought about how they actually dealt with such situations. and with addition of the physical pains they go through from the treatment, these children are indeed under a lot of stress.

owells i guess it's impossible fully understand what they have to go through. =\ but i definitely salute them for their immense courage. =)

Hair for Hope 2008 =)

surprisingly peter meant his words and he really turned up to watch me get shaved. in fact, we met at Novena MRT before making our way to Velocity @ Novena Sq.

The place was rather crowded the moment we came up from the escalator. Decided to register 1st instead of having lunch as my timeslot was approaching soon. I was kinda filmed and interviewed immediately after i stepped out of the registration line. hmm... i wonder if that happens to nearly everyone. anyway, seeing that there wasn't really much time to spare, i went to change into the event T-shirt and waited at the entrance of the queue. Then, one of the organiser/helper told me that i could enter the queue. hence, i made my way into the windy line. I didn't have to wait at all. somehow when they asked for 1 person to go on stage, everyone in front of me looked back. i guess they were shaving together as a group/family. So i went up, sat down, and the shaving began.

1 word to describe how i felt after the shave - COOLING. lol! my head felt so cool without hair on it. rushed down the stage to meet peter, then we went for lunch tgt. it was only after lunch that i remembered i forgot to collect the certificate. went to collect it before both of us made our way home.

i bet YOU must be anxious to know how i look right now. well i hope this satisfies your anxiety...

well i'm not completely bald like skin head, there are still like stubs of 1-2mm long hair.

i'm so excited to meet all my friends in the coming week! x)

music lesson today just made me hate the module even more. there was constant blabbering of musical terms and stuff, but i could hardly register anything in my mind. classical, romantic & baroque... chracteristics of such. symphony, concerto, sonata... differences between the 3. my gosh! it's simply too overwhelming.

went window-shopping today! =DD walked the whole of central, and many shopping centres in orchard road. felt so great to have sore feet after that. wahaha!

was at Montfort Knights campfire a few hours ago. initially felt kinda awkward to be there on a "personal invitation" basis, especially when i was wearing my troop scarf without anyone else from my unit. but it got better when i managed to have a short chat with brian and minghui.

their gateway was woah! one can easily see that great efforts were put in to construct that l-o-n-g bridge. unfortunately for the program, it was ruined by the rain. ok honestly, the program was simple to start with. but with the addition of the drizzle/rain, things were rushed and cancelled to end the campfire asap. what a pity, i must say.

saw many familiar faces there; ventures from the same VLC. an awkward, yet close feeling. lol.

earlier today, during ESL407 lesson, mrs kirti showed us a video which i found kinda cool. Why we do what we do, and how we can do it better. i'm always amazed by the power of such speeches.

Monday had ASG dinner @ 18 chefs. had a really crazy and fun time in the restaurant. after our meal, we ,being nice people, decided that we should not occupy the space and reduce business. hence, we decided to find a playground to hang out at. unluckily, after walking some distance to a dark, mosquito-filled playground, signs of rain appeared. so we made our way back to eastpoint and searched for a place where we could sit and chat. after 12345 minutes, our butts fell into the chairs outside starbucks. chitchatted till around 10plus, then we dispersed and went home.

i have been getting this awful feeling lately, making me all moody and depressed. it's like all of a sudden my mind will think about the past, ASG, council, scouts and everything else in AHS. apparently everything seems so distant from me now. buddies have become friends; and friends are now mere acquaintances. it feels as though i'm fading away into a new world.

let's look back and recall what happened during the past few days, omitting school since it's so repetitive.

Tue - attended Hwa Chong Institution scouts (ventures&rovers) campfire. Lu Huan is actually a rover scout of tt unit! & she was also 1 of the emcees for the campfire. it was kinda hilarious, but the audience just didn't seem to be affected. overall, there was definitely room for improvement.

Wed - attended King Lear Project @ Drama Centre as part of my MUS 266 course. it turned out to be a real shocker. ok it was actually a fault on my part to not check out what it was about before the event. owells, at least i wasn't bored at any point in time.

Fri - felt really moody today, don't really know why. =\ finally had the debrief for the VLC project. kinda rushed down to HQ so tt i will reach slightly early, but in the end, nearly everyone else was late. =_= the debrief turned out just like how a normal debrief should go, nothing special. i do not wish to spell out the contents of the debrief. =P anyway towards the end of the debrief, i had a chance to listen and talk to the guys from montfort about their upcoming campfire. i so wanna attend their campfire! too bad they didn't invite AHS falcon scouts. butbutbut, they did kinda extend a personal invitation to me by word of mouth. should i go?

there's Manjusri & St. Gabriel's campfires in June as well. i wanna go! at least the St. Gabriel's one...

and in July, there's St. Andrew's Sec and some area campfire. =D

Friday
went to AHS to collect my graduation certificate from the G.O., then waited for clement to be ready. as usual, the sec3s were laughing and going all eccentric over the word "buffalo". =_= when we were about to leave, i went to the G.O. yet again, but this time to ask for an a4-sized envelope to contain the NYAA registration forms. the lady was still as nice & friendly to me. =D clement commented that she was kp. o.O owells, guess it's cause i know her better. XD

we made our way down to NYAA HQ after waiting for a really long time. n at 1 point during the journey, when we were on the mrt, i kept shooting clement, saying he was lazy and chose to procrastinate. so bad of me. x)

we were a little lost when we exited from clarke quay mrt stn, even though i've been to NYAA hq before. =x oh! n we were also a little lost as we walked to our destination. but well, under my navigation and instincts, we reached the right place in a short time. met the same guy i saw last time, and he was nice. =D we explained to him that we wanted to register x people, but we only had x-5 forms n payment on hand. he then replied that he would register x people, but we would need to send in the remaining forms and payment asap. that's what i call good service. =)

as we were walking back to the mrt stn, i realised that clement's shorts were not the one from the den, so i commented on it. very soon, we were having a debate on design vs. size. no link right? lol! 'cause he said that the shorts my batch had from sec1 looked nice, n i said tt the size was too big. so it just went on. how retarded. XD

was nearly late for music, but thankfully i wasn't. =D

Saturday
Y Nature Walk @ Labrador Park. i was attached to APSN (association for persons with special needs). apparently i volunteered to participate in this event alone (not together with other ventures), cause i missed the 1st session of service.

we were supposed to meet 8am at the entrance of Katong Shopping Ctr, but quite a few people were late, so we waited for them. got to know this group of girls who were already at the bus-stop when i reached, and as we waited. when nearly everyone was there, we made our way (by walking) to APSN. i never knew there was an APSN centre for adults there. n honestly, i did not know what to expect. =X

the 1st thing that happened after we settled down was an introductary briefing. the person-in-charge, mr philip, started by explaining what are people with special needs, and the different range of iq level for the people at different places (eg. MINDS, APSN, metta school). after giving a few examples of the types of behaviors, mr philip then talked about the way they address such people in APSN - clients (those who are still attending lessons and training) & members (those who have gone through training and are already working outside).

soon it was time to pair up with the beneficiaries. following logic, those who had experience prior to this event were paired with clients who were slightly harder to manage. as for me, i was paired with Aaron, a really cute 22y.o. member. the 1st thing we had to do was to introduce ourselves to each other, something which proved to be difficult for some of the clients/members. however for me, Aaron actually asked for my name. i told him my name, but he said it was hard for him to remember, so i asked him to give me a name that he wanted to call me by. eventually, i suggested that he could call me James, n he replied something like "ok. james, tt's easy to remember, just like James Bond." we both laughed.

as there was still quite some time before the bus arrived, we played a simple icebreaking game. it was just a simple telematch, but it got the clients/members really hyped up. i had fun running alongside Aaron, tossing him the balls that missed entering the pail.

when we were on the bus to Labrador Park, I chatted with Aaron and got to know him better. he told me things like where he was working at, where he lived, what church he was attending and other stuff. he even told me that he was actually a very sensitive person (something i observed and concluded during the walk), n he was easily affected by comments from others. but well he was really innocent, just like a kid but with an adult's body. he loved to sing christian hymns and chant rhymes, and would constantly get me to fill in the missing words.

during the 1st half of the walk, we stopped twice to have a look at the "exhibit" and take pictures. unfortunately Aaron had no interest of taking pictures, so i stood at the side and chatted with him. we talked about different kinds of faces (happy, sad, angry, blank, monster, alien etc.) and he was really amused.

we took a break halfway, and played a simple game. we were expected to count the no. of snail pictures painted in the pavilion/shelter. even though it was just basic counting, Aaron and i turned it into mathematics. haha! instead of counting off from 1, we counted the number of snails on each pillar separately, then added everything together. i could tell that Aaron enjoyed it.

after we completed the 2nd half of the walk, we settled down for lunch. it was then that i met Jun Jie, another member who was working at the same place as Aaron. Jun Jie was very different from Aaron. he was very expressive and tend to get touchy with others. mr philip told us (at the end of the day) that he didn't have any ill intentions, but rather it was just his way of expressing himself.

one thing that really hit me was an incident after lunch. Aaron and i were together with a few other volunteers, singing christian hymns, enjoying ourselves. then my phone rang, so i stepped aside to pick up the call. however, we were soon called to assemble, but i was still somewhere aside on the phone. at that moment, i saw Aaron looking around, muttering to himself "where is my buddy?". so i walked up behind him n tapped him on the shoulder, letting him know i was there. he was so relieved to see me. although it may just be a small incident, but it allowed me to sense the bond he had with me.

on our way back to APSN, Aaron displayed his interest for maths by teaching me a trick involving all 4 applications (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to derive the original no., n he also taught me the BODMAS rule using a jingle which goes something like this:
bracket is the no. 1
times and divide 2
plus and minus is the last
equals the answer

overall, the experience was great. i have learnt many things from this session. =)

lazy to blog/update these few days.

went for TJC Mardi Gras 2008 yesterday. "what's so cool about a pasar malam?", quoted from catherine. LOL! well it wasn't exactly a pasar malam, though it's similar in some ways. XD hilariously, catherine and i sat through the whole drama performance not understanding a single bit of it. wth! we were such retards. XD anyway it felt good to be in the midst of all the sounds, lights, activities and people. kinda cool to see ppl dress up wildly too, though it was a pity i didn't stay to watch the parade at the end. missed the chance to have a look at the best dressed ppl. =( owells. i still enjoyed myself anyway.

spent half of today drafting out my 1st essay. it's like dam sh!tty. didn't even go through it the 2nd time for revision. i'll just do it tomorrow. =X

talking about tomorrow... there's NRWCS (national runway cycling and skating). sounds cool yo! hope it is as cool as it sounds. hmm...

OH OH OH! i came across this advert at a bus-stop earlier this week, and i am SERIOUSLY considering to be part of the Hair for Hope (HfH) 2008 event. basically it's about shaving your head to show support for children with cancer. read more.
so should i? registration is a lil troublesome though...

english quiz and essay outline were ok. quiz was relatively easy actually, except for the last question; couldn't find the 8th synonym/pronoun. my essay outline just lacked proper topic sentences and 1 personal example. not too bad imo. yay! =D

econs lesson was horrible. i was so dreamy and outta my mind for like the 1st 40mins or so. and when i finally "woke up", i thought to myself "oh sh!t. what the hell is he talking about?". luckily i managed to catch up after a short time. phew.

anyway... life sucks,
'cause i have been procrastinating (putting off all homework to tomorrow, the day after etc. and finally KABOOM! welcome to hell.) and sleeping late (makes me feel like a zombie). =\

HELLO LUCIENNE! i've been enjoying every single day of sch, slacking on weekends. coz it's not really hectic. whee!

music test today... my mind was like going o.O, !?, huh?, wth! & sh!t. the worst questions were the ones about melodic contour. sucks totally. let me pass, pleasepleaseplease!

kinda lost my wallet today. but thankfully it was found and returned. =D the security guard was just oh-so-funny! XD

slept and watched a movie during the 4+hours break. what happens in vegas! lol! dam we didn't get to watch the ending.

today was a happy day. whee!
