lecture week. super slack. lol. at most 3 lectures to attend a day, & only 1 lecture to attend on Thursday. =_= although it's only lectures this week, i can already sense the stress coming my way. =s die die die. so much catching up to do, at the same time gotta manage the ongoing lectures and tutorials. sian worhx! =(
dance auditions this Friday. heard so many different things about it. some say they lack guys, so it won't be hard for guys to get in. others say the auditions are really tough and hard to get through (heard that there was a freestyle section the last time. like OMG! =O). and huiyin says it's interest & passion over skills & techniques. now what can i believe in? =\
the other CCA/PDP i'm considering would be wushu. but it seems like wushu is a really horrible not that good in TJ. dang!
owells. worse comes to worst i'll join some club. =s
wish me luck for Friday!

haven't been blogging for a long time. MISSED ME? XD
ok i don't really have much time so i gotta make this as quick as possible.
20-22 Feb, Wed-Fri - TJC Orientation 02 2008 [Zenith II] first half of the day for wed was BORING, like SUPER BORING. all the talks and briefings bla bla bla, seriously made me feel like ponning orientation (which i eventually did NOT). second half of the day was more fun (but not fun until can get high), there was mass dance and a game called "College Trivia" if i'm not wrong. basically for the game, we were running in groups around school, from station to station. and when we reach a station, we had to cheer and play a game.
second day had talks too, but not as bad as the first day. played "B-manji", aka mini amazing race in Bedok. lol. it was horrible. waiting time for the first game was super long. and in the end my group only managed to complete 2 out of 6 stations. heard that many other groups completed very few stations as well. in the afternoon there was rehearsal/planning for "The Act" (which i volunteered to participate in), then mass dance. couldn't really catch the dance this time. owells, doesn't matter.
third day. as usual, a talk in the morning. then there was mass games, which unfortunately i had to miss. went for "The Act" rehearsals instead, after which joined back my OG for lunch. very quickly, it was "The Act". turned out to be kinda dumb, but i enjoyed it. commencement ceremony after that. personally i think it's cool, like some investiture. LOL. i'm officially a TJC-ian. haha! headed down to Suntec for mass dance. very high, but also very tiring at the same time. AHS-TJC people gathered together after that, cheered and most of us proceeded to have dinner/supper together.
22-24 Feb, Fri-Sun - 4J'07 Chalet @ Coasta Sands Downtown East came home from Suntec mass dance, packed my bag, then went to chalet at 1plus a.m.. immediately K.O. when i reached there. LOL. kinda dumb huh? XD
next morning (or the same morning x)) woke up at 6.05am due to Shawn's call, thankfully. washed up and changed, after which i rushed down to ECP for Scouts Area Rally in a cab. the "big walk" was retarded, and the primay school scouts were so annoying. lol! when we reached the meetin point, AHS venture scouts became game masters for "Balloon Bursting". i tell you, it was a tough job. maintaining order, briefing & hosting a game for more than 100 people at one time is seriously hell, especially when most of them are little monster cubs. sadly/fortunately it turned out that there was only time for 2 groups to play our game. i was already half-ded by then. thankfully, my dear CLEMENT and TIANXUN gave me a packet drink to save me from dehydrating. actually they wanted an event badge each in return. =_= haha! returned the many extra badges (prizes for the games) to the in-charge, and after the whole event ended i asked if they had any event badges left. surprisingly they said no. O.O so sorry clement and tianxun! =x had lunch at ECP BK, slacked a long long time there, then i went back to chalet. rotted away, announcing to the whole chalet that i wanted to eat KFC. x) BBQ at night. slept around 1 plus, if i'm not wrong.
woke up at around 8 the next morning, stoned for quite some time and then rushed home.
had lunch at KUISHIN-BO today. VANESSA ARE YOU READING THIS? XD
walked around Suntec, came home in the evening and SLEPT.
MESSAGE FROM MR NICHOLAS TANG CHIEF COMMISSIONER SINGAPORE SCOUT ASSOCIATION
Dear fellow scouts,
1. 2008 marks the start of the second millennium of scouting. We have just turned 100 years old and this is a remarkable achievement for any organization. We should be proud of this because it shows there must be something unique and valuable in scouting which is valued by so many countries and societies.
2. However we should not assume that there is therefore no need for change. Some may assume that if we have done well for a 100 years then we will also do well for the next 100 years if we continue to do the same. This is a fallacy and is dangerous. The world of today is very different from the world of yesterday. In fact the pace of change is now even faster than it was before and so the world of tomorrow is beyond anyone’s imagination. Are we prepared for this change? Do we welcome and embrace change?
3. Let me share with you a story about a cat in an Ashram in India. This cat loves the company of people and so each evening when the priest led his congregation in prayer, the cat would also wander around the prayer hall. The priest felt that the cat was distracting the devotees. So he tied the cat up every evening before the start of the prayers. This practice continued even after the priest passed away. Then one day the cat died too. The temple quickly found a replacement for the cat because everyone thought that tying up a cat during prayers is an integral and important part of evening prayers.
4. The story illustrates a key ingredient or pre-requisite before anyone can even begin to bring about change in any organization or practice. This is the need to examine and understand the rationale or reason behind existing practices. Very often we are afraid to challenge existing practices, like tying the cat in the story, and we just continue doing them even though the circumstances have changed. What is even more dangerous is that we start to create our own reasons for a practice that we do not even understand.
5. My fellow scouts, the word “scout” refers to a person that dares to venture into the unknown and to seek out new adventures and possibilities for his community. The world needs this true scouting spirit more than before because the future is even more uncertain as a result of the rapid changes that are taking place. However, we must be prepared to challenge our present practices and activities, understand them, and then either keep them or throw them away if they are no longer relevant to the present circumstances. Only then can we retain the true spirit of scouting and ensure that we will remain as the largest youth movement in the world.
6. Thank you and have a meaningful Founder’s Day.
i like this year's message. =)personally highlighted the paragraph i like best.

the internet screwed up again... i was like typing the tagbacks at 10am, then all of a sudden no more internet access. and i just kept trying to connect all the way until now. =_=
yesterday went back to AH with cat and cam in the afternoon. those retards actually forgot to collect their report books last year. XD ok not their fault actually, cause they didn't know they were supposed to collect it.
after that, i met up with huiling and jinjia at the indoor stadium before we head down to bedok interchange to meet michael and buy the necessary stuff. oh! michael, if you somehow or other happen to read this, IT'S HUILING'S FAULT TO MAKE YOU WAIT SO LONG. wahaha! XD ok that was like super retarded. so we walked past the sec3 scouts who were doing their backwoodsman, and that moment was really great. this may sound stupid, but the reason is because i felt so welcomed and accepted. ok i shall not make a long essay out of this. to put it simply, that was not supposed to be the case, based on impressions of the past. I LOVE YOU GUYS! (oops! sounds so gay. XD)
met michael at fairprice, then we went to buy the food. binli joined us, followed by jiesi & yeowjiang. we took a bus down to yeowjiang's house at punggol after a long time in fairprice. we were just blindly following him la! omgoodness. we didn't know we had to transfer bus only until the stop before we alighted. well, it was a long long long way there.
when we reached our destination, i slacked while the rest of them were busy making preparations. oops! =X wait i mean, too many cooks spoil the broth mah.. =s ate quite alot of new year goodies as i waited for the lovely steamboat to be done. the rest (which includes junhan, jieting, vanessa, jiemin, yiyee) arrived during the preparation process.
finally... *drumroll* the steamboat was READY! =D woohoo! i can remember the time - 8.20pm! 'cause we turned on the radio and it was #17 on 987 top 20 countdown. XD steamboat time - eat, talk, joke, laugh, etc etc. no need to elaborate la.
slack slack slack... then OHMYTIAN! leona lewis' BLEEDING LOVE is #1 on 987 AGAIN. *faints!* did i say we broke one of the dining chairs? =X jieting, jinjia, yiyee, michael and jiemin went home some time after midnight, while the rest of us watched dvds. first was RATATOUILLE, 2nd was SECRET, and the last was THE INCREDIBLES. personally i fell asleep around the start of the incredibles. all the rest were fast asleep, except huiling, when i woke up at the end of the incredibles. lol! so all of us were sleeping after that.
woke up after around two hours plus, at approximately 8. bathed, and eventually came for work.
thanks yeowjiang for inviting us over. =)
& I'M VERY TIRED NOW! zzzZZZ...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! spread the love!
unfortunately for me, i've got NO love to spread, so i'm spending V-day ALONE, WORKING. haix. actually it's no big deal. V-day is just another ordinary day to me, seriously.
i wanna go shopping! i wanna spend $$!
ok that came out of nowhere. random. LOL! erm.. on 2nd thoughts, maybe not. i don't really have much $$ to spare. oops! hehe.
ASG stayover at YJ's house tmr! yay! but i'm still working on Sat. T.T
another random thing... the lady from next door just popped in and gave me snacks! haha! XD 3 milo bars and 6 small packs of nuts! =DD aww... so nice of her. oh! i just realised i didn't say anything about her before. haha! so here's a little bit more about her.
1. she works just beside me, as in the room next door. some tailor job if i'm not wrong. 2. she's really friendly 3. she initiated quite a few conversations, and after that we know each other. LOL. 4. the 1st time she spoke to me was telling me about a lady who came to the tuition ctr in the morning (when it was closed) 5. she thinks i look like her eldest son, who is already all grown-up and working. 6. she's very nice. =D
oh oh oh! i must share this news with you guys! x) i learnt a new word and a new acronym today! so proud of myself. XD it's not some big bombastic word, neither is the acronym new to this world. =s
acronym: IDK- I Don't Know
word: kudos- praise; acclaim; accolade ey! don't laugh at me ok. i'm learning. =P
need to use the toilet. gtg. bye!

tagbacks! cat: sian sian sian trust me la lei lei, u wont feel as sian at work or at home mre den me! imagine habing tests everywk, kinda lik hanging ard with e same JOKELESS frens, being blacklisted my form tcher cos keep ponning, kinda rej but my mr right find one person, HU IS MRE SIAN DEN ME LA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok ur kind of sian and my kind of sian is different. urs is the 'too many lousy things' kind, while mine is the 'nothing to do' kind. anw i tink u shud rly get out of tt sch. =x rej by ur mr. right? omgosh, sad life.
SK: Why so sian? Haha, cheer up! nth to do, tt's y so sian. =( but the 4 free movie tickets sure cheered me up. haha!
woohoo! i've got 4 free GV movie tickets! =D but the sad thing is that the expiry date is 31 Mar, & one of the terms and conditions states "Valid on Monday - Wednesday only." =_= ok so it's not that great after all. but nevertheless, it's enough to satisfy me. =)
you might be wondering how i actually got these tickets, and here's how. went to SP Open House, visited the School of Media and Info-communication Technology, and just out of sheer luck, i got it. LOL.
i'm gonna watch CJ7 later. =D but on my own. =_=
work was ok yesteday. there was this lady (with a non-chinese look) that stepped in to enquire about the classes available. and i was kind of shocked when fluent chinese flowed out of her mouth. since her chinese is so good, i wonder why her children need chinese tuition. hmm... owells, whatever! i can't earn commission from her anyway, since she intends to register in late Feb.
a lady from SP called yesterday. actually i was hesitant to pick up the call from an unknown number, but i just did it. lol. the whole phone conversation was awkward, seriously. i didn't know how i should sound on the phone, plus the shock i got when she told me the news. so there she was, congratulating me for being lucky, and here i was giving neutral "ok"s . pathetic.
went down to SP earlier on today, and the lady (i think it's the same 1 that called me) kept asking me whether i put SP as one of my choices, & which course did i apply for. i didn't know how to reply her (poly was my last few choices) + i really forgot which course i applied for. doesn't matter, most important thing is that i got 4 GV movie tickets for FREE (it costs originally $28, according to the documents that lady had). =D

staying at home is... SIAN.
thankfully i'm returning back to work tomorrow. =)
oh wait!
with nothing much to do,
work is... SIAN too.
so maybe school's the only option left. =\
JAE posting results on 19th Feb!!! hey school, teachers, lecturers, friends, HERE I COME! =D
hold on!
with all the tests and tonnes of homework,
schooling is... SIAN as well.
sheesh!
another thing.
i've gotta type out the 1st draft of reports for my NYAA Silver, but i don't have the mood to do so.
it's just so SIAN.
conclusion: EVERYTHING IS SIAN, since i'm not enjoying anything that i am doing/have to do.
you think you know me well enough? well, think again.

slacked at home today. all i did was eat and sleep, since the internet was down for nearly the whole day.
i shall blog about yesterday then. but i don't feel like blogging. =X owells, it shall be very brief. went to mr. chua's house, together with council and NCC people. when we got there we queued up to enter. it was like we were paying mandarin oranges for an entry ticket(red packet! XD). so the council gang was kind of stoning for the first few moments, while the rest (NCC guys + other AHS alumni who were already opresent when we reached) played their games. tabitha couldn't stand the fact that she wasn't part of the noise, so we decided to play some card games. turned out that we played a whole series of hyped-up games (ok maybe it's us that made it hyped up. XD) and became the noisiest group of people. XD
left mr. chua's place at 2plus, then some of us went to TM to shop (for V-day presents). walked the whole of TM & CS. some of us had dinner together at LJS, then it was bye-bye.
no mood to blog. sorry.

yz: junle.. happy new year! sorry for late greetings =X XIN NIAN KUAI LE!!! aiya it's ok la.. i couldn't come online anw.
done!
now i shall move on to updates for the past few days. it's been a long time since my last entry, all thanks to my internet.
4 Feb, Mon went out with my dad in the morning to SIM (S'pore Insitute of Management) to enquire and register for the UB (University at Buffalo) undergraduate programme. we had difficulty navigating around the campus, but we still found our way around eventually.
then we headed to PP (Parkway Parade). was there to check out some slicer for my mum, but it turned out to be rather redundant. carried on walking around Giant after my dad left, and i was so tempted to buy those FBT shorts. ooh! XD
decided to head back to AHS to look at scouts activity while waiting for dinner with yiling and huiling, but yiling called to say tt she couldn't make it. so in the end i just slacked around in school. talked to chunkit and mendel, then watched the sec2s and 3s go thru PT. anyway i think the current sec4 scouts should be really hating me for going back so often. but i don't interfere with the activities leh! ok fine, i suck, but i don't care! waited for the activity's dismissal time before i left.
5 Feb, Tue went to AHS at around 9.40 to collect jinmeng's and chunkit's CCA hike registration form, before heading down to Scout HQ for the necessary procedures. sounds dumb, but that was actually my very first time stepping into that general office. 'cause nearly all the time i've been there, i stayed on the ground floor (other than the time peter and i went for the Frank C. Sands award presentation ceremony). saw quite afew familiar faces in the GO, kinda shocked. lol.
after that i went down to the scout shop to get the necessary uniform parts for my venture uniform. there were 2 guys tending the shop, one a malay and the other a chinese. the malay dude was very nice and he the service he offered was simply great. he was friendly and took alot of initiative to help. as for the chinese dude, he was tending the counter, and was also the one in charge of badges. now this guy was one cold dude. i was utterly turned off. he was cold, but thankfully he didn't have bad attitude. remembered about my name tag at the very last minute.
decided to head home, but got pranked by catherine and camalyn on my journey back. so there was some sudden change of plans and i went to meet cat and cam at bedok sheng siong. felt like some dad/mum as i shopped around and bought some new year goodies. lol. walked to shop n save to look for a suitable CNY gift for mdm ong. in the end we bought some plant (LOL!) and went straight to school.
turned out that mdm ong was on medical leave. =_= so we slacked in the canteen for a real long time, with cat's birthday celebration in between. it was a surprise to me as well, when cermaine came carrying a cake and asking me whether i know the plan. sang a birthday song and cat cut the cake. talking about the cake, the cream was horrible. it was those non-tasty fattening cream that you get sick of real easily. so we scraped as much of it off as possible before devouring consuming the sponge cake.
left school and 3 of us (cat, cam and i) went to the florist just beside tanah merah mrt station. it was because i wanted to help my mum buy some plant (pussy willow if i'm not wrong about the name) for CNY. the choosing process was retarded, especially when every bunch looked nearly the same to me. =_= eventually, with the help of cat and cam, i finally chose 1 which i felt was the best. LOL.
walked to tanah merah mrt station we were about to bid farewell to each other, but cat and cam didn't want to leave that early, so we sat down at the mrt station exit and chatted for quite some time. i was so unglam! ok no link! lol. and cat just had to show me her disgusting toe nail that was peeling off. eww yucks!
came home and did my venture uniform stuff. punched hole in my beret and started the seasoning process. lol. spent a long long time sewing the badges onto my new top. and it made my thumb and finger hurt like mad! but anyway, I'M OBSESSED WITH MY NEW TOP, even though it's empty and plain. hahaha!
6 Feb, Wed had reunion lunch as a family.
did final preparations for the new year.
watched the special CNY program on television.
was real sad that there was no internet for me to use. LOL!
7 Feb, Thu aunts, uncles and cousins came visiting. did the usual thing to serve as much food as possible.
then me and my sis went to their houses.
had steamboat dinner at one of my aunt's house, and after that we had a really long debate/conversation. it was kind of memorable, considering it's the 1st time we have actually done this. LOL. what do you expect man? we're no longer kids, we're growing teenagers. XD
all those new year goodies are so gonna make me FAT! sheesh!
return me that innocence, please.

HELLO! i'm back with the 2nd post for today.
did something out of the ordinary for work today. i was instructed to type, then print out 谚语s, which were supposed to be made into cards for playing. the type where you match the front half with the correct back half. so... after staring at 95 谚语s for 2 whole hours, i definitely must have gotten some into my head, at least simple ones... hmm... let me think for a while... oh sh!t! i don't remember a single one! LOL! XD nah, just kidding. i rememer a few. yes, only A FEW. hahaha!
and... i received my pay check today! =D but the poor me has got to give some people a treat because YILING forcedkindly requested me to. lol.
anyway i received this cute email at around 9.20, and well i shall share it with you. c'mon, good things are to be shared right? XD
that's all! =)
and it was all in vain.
| 11:46 AM
shall post about yesterday. =D
the day started off with the normal routine (wake up, laze in bed, really wake up, prepared packed lunch n dinner, bathe etc etc etc...).
ok fast foward!
so there was Ventures meeting at 10am in the concourse, and i was late. =x it was mainly on target setting, plans and rough schedule for the year. one thing is confirmed for all of us, and that is we have this die-die-must-achieve target of NYAA GOLD. as for individual interests and personal goals, i guess the most major issue would be the PSA(President's Scout Award). the reason it's such a major issue is because much has to be done if one is pursuing the award. personally i thought of going for it, but after looking through the requirements, things to do and schedule, i'm now kind of worried that i'll be unable to balance between this and my academics. how how how? i mean i have sort of decided that i want to focus more on my academics, but yet at the same time i want to achieve something big, like PSA. argh! this sucks. sheesh! honestly, about the PSA, i don't have the die-die-must-achieve feeling towards it if i'm going to do it alone, and i guess i'll most probably give up halfway. oops! =X it's more of like i want someone else to be doing it alongside with me, that way i'll be kept motivated when the going gets tough. ok i believe i'm starting to hear comments like "aiyo! you must learn to be independent ma." & "then forget about it, you're not passionate about it.". SAVE IT! i don't need these useless comments, i only want advices and suggestions. =)
the meeting ended and i headed down to orchard plaza for work. =\ nothing unusual, nothing special. only thing was that i forgot about the time.
erm... what's so significant about that? apparently i was suppose to attend ahband concert and my forgetfulness could have resulted in me missing a whole chunk of the concert. anyway, i rushed down to AHS like a madman, and fortunately for me, i only missed the first song. personally i enjoyed the concert alot, seriously. can't really say it was good or bad (though i THINK it was good. =X), because i don't really know much about music. saw many many people there. x))

Life is getting scary, Mummy...
Dear Mommy,
I am very sad, Mommy.
Today in school, Zhong Guoren, my classmate from China, beat me again, in a Maths test. The boy is an unstoppable genius machine.
Last week, he beat me in sports too. If he were not here, I would have come in first and gotten a gold. But because the Government says we must welcome foreign talents to increase our population and to improve our economy, I got a bronze instead. This sucks.
At first, we laughed at them, because their English was not very good. Their Maths and Science were good, and their Chinese was excellent (but who cares about Chinese language, right?). But then, their English got better and now, they are kicking our backsides in this subject too.
I think we should get the Government to do something about this.
Why didn’t you have more babies, Mommy? I wouldn’t mind having a brother or a sister to play with. I am an only child, and because you and Daddy are not making enough babies, we have to get people from other countries, people who make it hard for me to be number one in my class. I think you are very selfish to just have me, Mommy.
I don’t like to lose, Mommy. I am used to being first in my school. And my school was very small too, like Singapore, so it was easy to be first. Now my school is bigger, and I have to fight harder to be first. Why can’t we just compete with ourselves, amongst Singaporeans only (ok, and maybe Permanent Residents)?
Why can’t they have a new category for all the tests and CCAs? We could have a Best Local Maths Student category and a Best Local Sportsman category, then at least, if I don’t win Best Maths Student, I can be Best Local Maths Student and feel better about myself.
Just like my school is ranked one of the Top 20 Value-added Secondary Schools with a Special Assessment Award for Knitting CCA, I also want to be a high-ranking student.
Maybe we need to have a new category like “Top 20 Value-added Secondary Schools (Got China Students)”. This is because our school has smart foreign students and should be ranked separately to maintain our high ranking. And maybe we should drop Literature as a subject too. I hate Literature, hard to score “A”s.
In fact, we should have streams like EM1 (Local) and EM1 (China and Others). Let the smart China students have their own stream.
I want to go to university when I grow up, especially NUS, because our newspapers say NUS is even bester than Princeton and Cornell in the USA. But I hear there are also many brilliant China students in NUS too.
I don’t want to be having private tuition until I am 25 years old, just to keep up with my foreign classmates in the Uni. Or else I will have no time to meet girls, and then I will be forced to go to Vietnam and Kelantan to find a wife when I want to start a family.
In fact, I am very upset with foreigners competing with us even in this area. All the girls I know say when they finish studying and go to work, they want to marry Ang Mohs, because Singapore men are unromantic and do not want to know how to make a girl happy. So even the Ang Moh is stealing our women.
I prefer to marry a Singapore girl, of course, but only if she knows how to cook and wash, and peel my prawns for me (like you, Mommy). But nowadays, Singapore girls are so fierce, just because they study, and earn their own money.
Maybe that is why in Chinatown, I saw this big Singapore Rooster, and it was sitting on eggs. I think the Singapore Hen left him to look after the eggs, because she had to work and do all the things an educated Hen does.
I also worry I cannot find a job when I am older. My friend, Ah Hock, tells me that his Mommy said all these Chinese foreigners are stealing our jobs and our men (and the Ang Mohs are stealing our women).
That is very scary, Mommy. You told me many China women are in Singapore only to do naughty things, like bluff old men of their CPF money. Once an uncle wrote in the papers that we should catch those foreign women who are tall, have long hair and legs, and wear tight, revealing outfits in black or red and behave coquettishly.
I think we should only accept foreign women who are short, have short hair and legs, and wear loose, covered-up outfits in white or blue, and behave like a man.
Ok, Mommy, I have to go to my Chinese, Maths and Science tuition classes now. If I don’t go, I won’t be able to beat Guoren.
